Zero tillage has important consequences for soil pore architecture and hydraulic transport: A review

چکیده

Following the adoption of zero-tillage (ZT) from conventional tillage (CT), soil pore network undergoes immediate and significant changes. As remains undisturbed for an extended period, a structure emerges that is primarily generated stabilised by both biotic abiotic processes. There limited understanding concerning how ZT influences porous architecture associated hydraulic properties, specifically over what timeframe these changes occur. Since previous synthesis such information 20-years ago, there has been substantial number new investigations aimed at addressing this knowledge gap. Here we review 34 papers illustrate can influence porosity depending on texture, size class, depth time, also important transport mechanisms likely to impact fate agrochemicals in soils. We found decreased macroporosity surface layers under when compared with CT. In addition, connectivity tended increase though effects were less clear. Our investigation reveals value prospective examination evolving visually functionally across temporal spatial scales. highlight necessity standardised methodology aid future data compatibility quantitative analysis.

Tillage Effects on Soil Health and Crop Productivity: A Review

The cultivation of agricultural soils has until recently predominantly been achieved by inverting the soil using tools such as the plough. Soil tillage is one of the basic and important components of agricultural production technology. Various forms of tillage are practised throughout the world, ranging from the use of simple stick or jab to the sophisticated para-plough. The practices develope...

A review of soil pore models

Phenomena occurring in soil pores can best be studied if the geometry of the pore space is understood. A number of models for the pore space have been proposed. These have included a Boolean grain process, fractals, packed sphere and other grain models, bubble processes, cracking processes and a range of models based on simple geometrical objects. This paper considers the issues raised by these...

Scaling the saturated hydraulic conductivity of a vertic ustorthens soil under conventional and minimum tillage

With the aim of setting up a simpli®ed method to measure hydraulic conductivity of structured soils at saturation, a method reported by Ahuja et al. (Soil Sci. Soc. Amer. J. 48 (1984) 699±702; Soil Sci. 148 (1989) 404±411), which also refers to the generalised equation of Kozeny±Carman and the scaling theory, is tested in this paper. Data were elaborated from hydraulic conductivity measurements...

Effect of tillage and water pressure head on the hydraulic properties of a loamy soil surface

The effect of different tillage practices on soil hydraulic properties was studied in a mature, drip irrigated apricot orchard with a 7% slope, in Murcia (SE Spain). The soil had a loamy texture. Three soil tillage treatments were applied between the rows of trees: 1) control treatment (non-tilled, although weeds were cut to ground level using a blade attached to a tractor following the common ...
